Our Stewardship Appeal launched on Sunday 28th September at the Harvest Service and will run until the end of October. Each week we will focus on a different area of the campaign.
Week one started with the ‘Challenges of Income and Expenditure’.
Week two focused on ‘Our Donors and Our Appeal’.
We have now reached week three and the focus will be on be on 'How much should I give?' and 'How to give?'.
How much should I give?
You should only give what you can afford. The median donation is £50 a month but there is no minimum amount.
Some comparative costs that might help frame your thinking are -a coffee each working day is around £70 a month, annual membership at Edinburgh Leisure is £60 a month and annual subscription at Murrayfield Golf Club £103 a month.
The principle of giving away at least 10% of income and assets (tithing) is long established in Christian tradition.
How to give? -
The best way to donate regularly is to set up a bank standing order. Forms are available inside the Stewardship leaflets in church on Sunday mornings or you can complete the form on the Murrayfield Parish Church website. Forms are also available from the church office.
If you already have a standing order you can increase the amount you currently give simply by changing the amount on your standing order through online banking. If you don’t bank online you can email the church office and we’ll be happy to help.
We are always doing our best to control expenditure but increased income would allow us to run a balanced budget and be more financially stable. There will be an information table in the church centre after the service on Sunday mornings. If you would like to ask questions please do drop in for a coffee. We would love to have your interest in the appeal. Even an extra couple of pounds a month will make a difference to us.
